Plane Pain

A six player local versus game about painful paper planes!

details

Plane Pain is a local versus game for up to six players, made as an assignment for the Advanced Game Design course in my master studies. It was inspired by Achtung die Kurve.

Each player controls a paper plane with two keyboard buttons they pick in the menu:

  • planes constantly fly forward and can be steered left and right
  • planes shoot darts to the left and right (with a cooldown)
  • a plane hit by a dart turns into a clone of the shooter, steering and shooting in sync with it
  • last plane remaining wins!

The settings let players tweak dart cooldown, screen wrapping, initial clones and more, which allows for some vastly different gameplay, such as stationary machine gun planes.
