A crowd of characters that cheers when you press a button on your phone.

Users can connect via the QR code and are then faced with a button that triggers a cheer.

CheeringCrowd is a small installation piece from my master studies in Hagenberg: a crowd of characters that cheers when someone presses a button.

The Unity app uses ZXing to show a QR code that leads to a Netlify web app. The button on that page writes into a Firebase realtime database, which Unity reads to trigger the cheer animation. The scope is small, but I’m really happy with how smoothly the QR-code-to-phone flow works. I might reuse this tech in future works :)
